- Xanatos is titled after Thanatos, the personification of death in Greek mythology.
- He is often depicted either as a beautiful Ephebe, or a winged boy in sculptures and artworks alike after the 4th century BC, as he slowly became the symbol of a gentle passing, rather than a woeful demise.
