Kou (Winter) is a limited Partner in Arcaea, and a variant of Kou. She can be unlocked by purchasing her signature song Capella and playing her event map, which was first available from December 22nd, 2022 to January 5th, 2023.

Skill

Kou (Winter)'s skill works as follows:

• If Kou (Winter) is not the active partner (partner can be unsealed or sealed):
  • Once a play is complete, 25% of fragments (rounded down) obtained from that play is "shared" with Kou (Winter). The player receives the full amount as usual.
  • Playing songs with other partners will continue to increase Kou (Winter)'s cumulative "shared" Fragment stockpile until a song is played using Kou (Winter). This stock will stop increasing at 999 Fragments.
• If Kou (Winter) is the active partner:
  • After completing a song play with unsealed Kou (Winter), her full Fragment stockpile is awarded as a PARTNER Bonus for Fragment calculation (i.e. before the FRAG multiplier). This sets her stock back to 0.
  • If Kou (Winter) is sealed, Fragments are awarded as normal. There is no change to her Fragment stockpile, and no PARTNER Fragment bonus.

Note that her "shared" Fragment count is saved locally on the device, and exiting and re-opening the game does not reset this count.

• e.g. If 66 Fragments are obtained from one play (Level 30 Kou + SOUNDWiTCH FTR PM):
  • $\lfloor 66\times 0.25\rfloor$= 16 Fragments are "shared" with Kou (Winter).
• If 62 more Fragments are obtained from a second play (Level 30 Kou + Evoltex FTR PM):
  • $\lfloor 62\times 0.25\rfloor$ = 15 more Fragments are shared with Kou (Winter).
  • At this point, a total of 16 + 15 = 31 Fragments have been "shared" with Kou (Winter).
• If a Level 13 Kou (Winter) is then selected on the third play and an Evoltex FTR PM is achieved:
  • CLEAR = 3 (FTR) + 7 = 10
  • PERFORMANCE = $\left\lfloor \left\lfloor {\frac {8}{1.25}}+0.2\right\rfloor \times 2.7\right\rfloor$ = 16
  • PARTNER = No. of Fragments "shared" with Kou (Winter) = 31
  • Total Fragments obtained from this play = 45/50 × (10 + 16 + 31) = 51 (after rounding)

Notes

Like the base version of Kou, Kou (Winter) is one of the most useful parters available for Fragment farming. Simply having Kou (Winter) as an unlocked partner effectively allows one to increase total Fragment gain to (slightly under) 125% for all plays where she isn't used.

Trivia

• Kou (Winter) is one of several Partners whose skill is affected by song plays made when she is not selected.
• As of v4.1.7, the maximum amount of fragments one can obtain with one play using Kou (Winter) is obtaining a PM on Testify BYD.
  • This will net the player (11 + 27 + 999) × 1.0 = 1037 Fragments if Kou (Winter) is at level 20.
• Her World Mode map consists of pairs of tiles with step counts of 12/25, possibly referencing the date of Christmas.
